OUR REASON WHY
A Message From Founder Micala McCoy, M.Ed.
I founded Wildflower Home for Girls because I know the invisible struggles young women face in Dallas—all too familiar to me. Growing up in West Dallas and later Pleasant Grove, I was raised by young parents working tirelessly under challenging conditions.
My mother labored long hours in a warehouse to support us, and I watched the emotional and physical toll it took on her. My father was largely absent, and that absence left a mark.
Those experiences shaped my view of what many girls in our community endure—barriers that often go unseen: limited access to mental health care, mentorship, and career guidance. Although I was able to forge a path forward, not everyone is given that same chance.
Wildflower is my way of giving back. It’s the support system I wish had existed for my mother—and that many young women in similar circumstances deserve today.
